John Brown the martyr or murderer?

John Brown was a murderer because he killed many people. He did not have the right to do that yet he risked his life to free slaves. According to the 1st amendment he was aloud to think and say whatever he wanted but not the right to do what he wanted. He had a strong opinion about owning slaves and decided to express his feelings. I do not think he expressed his feelings the right way but he was just trying to help slaves. John Brown just wanted slaves to be free and treated fairly.
